Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews and is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. Thank you so much for the warm welcome I received last week with my first STS!  I found some new people to follow and added some books to my wishlist, as expected!

I have all library finds this week, all somewhat different than my usual entertainment reading tastes, though not outside my sphere of interests.

Here is what I've added in the last week:

From the Library:

I've actually already read and returned Genesis but it was new since last week so I included it anyway. It was a strange little story concerning artificial intelligence, I play to review it soon.

I probably won't actually read The Art of Graeme Base, I'm not much for bio's though I'm sure it is wonderful, so that's not a reflection on him!  I picked it up to get a look at all of his artwork which I think is gorgeous and whimsical!  I remember when The Eleventh Hour came out, I worked in a bookstore at the time (imagine that!) and just thought it was beautiful!

Quiet is about being introverted in an extroverted world, I'm interested to see what Cain has to say, being an introvert myself.

All About Emily appears to be another short foray into the concept of artificial intelligence.  I've read Willis' The Doomsday Book that deals with time travel and the bubonic plague and was very impressed with it, so intrigued by this novelette.

Star Wars Redux - Lindsey Stirling, Peter Hollens and the Piano Guys

These two artists are so much fun! I had the gift of meeting Lindsey in person when she was here and she is the nicest, sweetest person who made everyone that talked to her feel like you'd been friends forever. I haven't met Peter yet, but I get the feeling he could be the same way!

New this week:

Genesis by Bernard Beckett Another library find, I'll be honest, I was looking for thin, in the fantasy section, and when I pulled this out I saw a blurb by Jonathan Stroud on the cover, so I decided to give it a try.  Also the Goodreads rating was 3.8 so why not? Sounds sci-fi, artificial intelligence concerned, with a Utopia that is perhaps not as perfect as it appears.

Still working on from previous weeks: 

	Doctor Who: Demon Quest: Five Exclusive Audio Adventures by Paul Magrs A library audio edownload find, read by Tom Baker and Susan Jameson.
	An Echo in the Bone (Outlander #7) by Diana Gabaldon Less then 10 hours to go, I'm hoping to finish it this week!
	Indexing by Seanan McGuire This is the first Kindle serial that I have tried and we're up to episode 5 of 12, so this will be on my currently reading for awhile. This is the first thing I've read by her and I am enjoying it! Dark Fairy Tales, translated into real world, where the tales become "incursions" into real life as the narrative takes hold and tries to force the story along. An interesting idea.

What I have recently finished:

	Once Bitten Twice Shy (Jaz Parks #1) by Jennifer Rardin I really liked this one, Jaz is feisty, funny and fierce and I look forward to reading more of her adventures!
	The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom I picked this up at the library, not my usual style, but the concept sounded interesting so I gave it a try. It wasn't bad, but it was depressing I thought, and just confirmed that it wasn't for me. Maybe it's just the mood I'm in, but I read for entertainment, and this one was too message laden for me, which I knew going in, so it's not a criticism of the book, just that I should have known better.  No book is for everyone. :)
	The Kingmakers (Vampire Empire #3) by Clay and Susan Griffith The last book of the Vampire Empire trilogy. I have really enjoyed this story, it's steampunk, alternate history, fantasy epic and a little romance, all wrapped up together. I will be offering the first of this trilogy during the Vamps Vs. Zombies Blog Hop Aug. 17-31st, so check back if you're interested!

What I think is up next:

Mr. Real (Code of Shadows #1) by Carolyn Crane Pick your cover! I think mine is actually the orange one. There were other things I had in mind to read next, but this one just kept popping up in my brain, so I guess that means it's time for Mr. Real!

	Once Bitten Twice Shy (Jaz Parks #1) by Jennifer Rardin I'm finally getting into this series, I've heard great things about it, and am sorrowful that the author has already passed away, much too young. Urban Fantasy, Jaz and her vampire boss work for the CIA, so far it's fun and sarcastic, Jaz is a firecracker and vampire Vayl is a great straight man for her.
	An Echo in the Bone (Outlander #7) by Diana Gabaldon My current audiobook, I took a break from these for a couple years, but decided to catch up during the Seriously Series Challenge this year. They are so huge, and I'm having a hard time getting invested in William, but still love the rest of the regulars!

I have recently finished:

The Secret Christmas Ciphers by Carolynn Carey I participated in a Christmas in July read-a-thon this past week and this was my first read for it. It is a novella of 132 pages and was a quick and sweet historical romance.

When Santa Fell to Earth by Cornelia Funke Another Christmas in July Read-a-thon book. It's a cute story but I'm not sure I would suggest it for kids that don't already know, though I'm guessing that at this reading level, they probably already do. It honestly didn't do a lot for me, I'm not sure why. I did like it, but not as much as her other books that I've listened to, so maybe that's the difference. Maybe I just like being read to!

The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom I picked this up at the library, not my usual style, but the concept sounded interesting so I'll give it a try.

Books, Brains ‘n Blood Read-a-Thon: August 2 – 6th

I can't resist a read-a-thon, especially not one with such an appetizing title! My friends over at My Shelf Confessions are hosting the Books, Brains 'n Blood Read-a-thon as part of their Vamps Vs. Zombies month long event. The read-a-thon is just the first of many activities, giveaways, guest posts, challenges and a blog hop throughout the month, you definitely want to CHECK IT OUT!

I am typically firmly Team Vampire, I just don't get the zombie craze, but I'm going to try to read a book from each time for the read-a-thon.

For my Zombie read I have chosen Rachel Caine's Working Stiff (Revivalist #1). It doesn't look too zombie-ish but I'm going to ease into the genre! ;)



For my Vampire read I will finish off the Vampire Empire Trilogy with The Kingmakers by Clay and Susan Griffith.



I doubt I will finish both of them, but we'll see how far I get!
