Interred With Their Bones by Jennifer Lee Carrell is a DaVinci Code for the Shakespeare lover! The mystery centers around a lost play by Shakespeare, and also brings in the questions of who the bard might really have been. It is an exciting jaunt from England to Washington DC to the American Southwest, from dusty archives and hidden caches to the depths of a cave, and all the while you're not really sure who the bad guys actually are! That seems to change at the drop of a hat as well, with main character Kate charging off with different combinations of those in question with each new twist. There are puzzles to solve and historical sites to visit, oh yes, and murders, you've got to have murders, it's Shakespeare after all. On the whole a very enjoyable thriller, that showcased some interesting and wild theories. The author also details in the ending note which parts of the story came from her imagination and which are actual ideas/facts that she has drawn from research. I was happy to see that she has now written another story, also featuring Kate our Heroine called Haunt Me Still that should be coming out in harback in April 2010.
I definitely recommend Interred With Their Bones to anyone who enjoys historical mysteries, or Shakespeare! For more information on the author and her work, see her website here: Jennifer Lee Carrell
